Designer Tehilah Abakasanga of ÖFUURË womenswear label unveils the IGHÓ collection. Regarding this beautiful and eccentric collection, this is what she told Bella Naija Style;
The IGHÓ collection was my winning AFWT (African fashion week Toronto) student design competition 2016 collection. IGHÓ means wealth in Edo, and this collection was named after my mum whose name is Omonigho.
It’s not your average ankara collection. I incorporated some of my favourite fabrics like tulle and fringe with different textures, hand sewn appliqués and some beadwork. Overall it was a very fun collection to work on.
Fun to work on and fun to look at, too! We love how she played with different fabrics and textures. This collection is African in another unique way. Love it! See lookbook below and tell us what you think in the comment section..
