So many people do not get the idea of runway fashion shows. They see thin models wearing clothes by designers and they keep wondering why they keep using them. In an interview with NET, Nigeria-born international fashion designer, Ade Bakare has shed more light on this as he explains why thin models are preferred by fashion designers. According to Ade Bakare, ‘The idea of using slim models is a very western concept, the idea being that most people want to be slim so they represent people’s desires, also fashion designers love working with slim tall models. It’s believed they show the clothes off to the best advantage especially with proportions, they also walk and sway better it is perceived.’ Models in Ade Bakare Couture The designer who is also known for his ready to wear and bridal lines also added, ‘a tall lady easily captures ones attention, then imagine them dressed up in attention grabbing clothes, this makes a good photo and story ,hence the press is captivated by these images and they catch the attention of the public, designers have a responsibility to show something new and innovative hence the term designer.’ Ade Bakare has designed a collection of Day and evening wear dresses twice seasonally that sold to boutiques in England and the channel Islands such as Lucienne Phillips of Knightsbridge, Adele Davis of old bond street, the foundation of guild fond and Ambers of Amersham.

For years the modelling industry has been known to portray the “perfect” image of what they believed a person should really look like; tall, slender, tan and flawless. But recently the modelling world has taken a more “abstract” route and designers have been changing their view at a rapid pace, using more eccentric faces to open for their runway shows.

A case in point is designer Ricardo Tisci, who has been known to cast unusual people to represent the line and made waves when he used Lea T, a transgender model, to represent Givenchy in the past – and his latest “face” for the line is no different. This time, Tisci cast an albino man, Stephen Thompson, as the new front for Givenchy.

“Riccardo Tisci, designer for the French fashion house said that he’s often admired the look of albinos and that they’ve been an inspiration for the tones that are recurrent in his designs, he told Women’s Wear Daily,” the NY Daily News reports. Thompson and Tisci have opened a lot of doors for people who look a little “different”. But how many models out there actually have albinism? You’ve got to admit, it’s not something you’ve probably ever thought of.

Albinism is probably one of the most discriminated against syndromes in the world, basically because of people’s lack of knowledge of it. Some cultures in Africa actually believe that albinism is the result of a curse and that it’s contagious. Others believe that albinos can tell the future and that albino body parts are useful talismans in black magic. Now, obviously none of that’s true, but it just shows you the extremities people go to to make up things about something they don’t understand.

In this following lines you will meet some of the most beautifully unusual people you have ever seen (who just happen to lack melanin)…

Refilwe Modiselle is a model and entertainer from Soweto, South Africa and earned her claim to fame as a model for South African designer David Tlale when she became the first woman with albinism to walk a runway in South Africa.

Alyona Subbotina is a fashion model who comes from Kazakhstan and has done very well for herself posing for campaigns like Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier, James Macari and Oscar de la Renta and magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire UK, Schön! Magazine and Elle Mexico.

Though she isn’t a household name yet, she is definitely one pretty face to be on the lookout for.

We all sure want to know what makes the runway queens glow at all times. They always look fab, even when they aren’t on the runway. Granted, many of them are genetically blessed, but they also learn a lot of helpful tips about how to look good since they work in the beauty industry. Here we brought to you some of the beauty secrets of models for us mere mortals to try:

    1. Spray Your Face to Refresh Makeup
This is one of the easiest beauty secrets of models to incorporate into your beauty routine. Models wear a lot of makeup, and sometimes this can create an unflattering cakey #look. However, all you need is a small spray bottle and some mineral water to give your face a dewy glow—just spritz your #face once or twice to combat that cakiness. You can also purchase facial mists containing a variety of beneficial ingredients, or you can experiment with your own ingredients at home. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to the water or try using rosewater instead of mineral water. Just make sure that you use a bottle that produces a fine mist, like the type of clear bottles that most #body sprays come in.

    2. Stay Hydrated

This might seem like a boring beauty tip, but tons of models preach about the Importance of staying hydrated. I recently saw a before and after photo of a #woman who decided to start drinking three liters of water a day, and the results were amazing. So those models know what they’re talking about! But they don’t just chug regular water all day long. To drink like a model, try sipping on some nutritious coconut water after a workout—it’s a great healthy alternative to sugary sports drinks. Another great model tip is to start your day with a little hot water and lemon to boost your metabolism.

    3. Always Remove Your Makeup before Going to Bed

It might seem like a dream to have talented makeup artists constantly using your face as a canvas, but many models understand the importance of letting their #skin breath as much as possible. It’s especially important to get rid of all that makeup before going to sleep—your pores will definitely thank you for those eight hours of not being clogged up. Sleeping in makeup also dries out skin and ages it, and obviously models don’t want this—they want to #look fresh and youthful as long as possible. Some models swear by makeup-removing wipes, which are perfect for ladies who are exhausted after a long photo shoot. The oils listed above (minus tea tree oil) can also be used to remove #makeup.

    4. Get Plenty of Sleep

After you remove your #makeup, make sure that you get those eight important hours of shuteye! Models swear by beauty sleep, which is a great way to avoid that awful tired #look that comes with inadequate slumber. Makeup can only do so much to disguise #dark circles, red eyes, and droopy eyelids. You can also get beautified while you’re off in dreamland. To wake up with fabulous #hair, sleep on a silk pillowcase or apply a little olive oil to your locks (just be sure to sleep with some sort of head covering if you do this). Also be sure to apply some sort of serum, moisturizer, cream, or oil on your #face to lock in moisturizer while you snooze.

    5. Eat Healthy

Models don’t just eat healthy to stay thin—they also want to improve the #look of their skin. To eat like a model, try to munch on lots of salads containing nutrient-packed greens like spinach and kale, and top them with dressings made from healthy oils like #coconut oil. Avoid skin-aging sugar as much as possible, and try to keep your diet low-carb (a few whole-grain foods are fine). Create meals using lean grilled meats and veggies, and choose healthy snacks like fruits and yogurt. Protein shakes are a great way to start the day with a boost of energy—just try mixing protein powder with ingredients like #almond milk or yogurt and antioxidant-rich fruits like berries. You might think that models do crazy #things to stay skinny, but many of them claim that they avoid unhealthy fad diets in favor of simply eating healthy.
