Menswear designer Tzar is out with an amazing lookbook for Spring/Summer 2015, here’s what he had to say about this collection.
“For my Spring Summer 16 collection titled ‘1760’ a number but more importantly my Identity for a certain gruesome period in my life spent in a remote part of Western Nigeria. The experience from this time and Alberto Burri’s work on Sacchi mesh to explain this some what traumatic timeline. The collection is a visual and emotional interpretation of my habitation in that environment. The predominant colour being blue emphasizes the difficulty in accepting the change I had to endure ,an inflexible mindset but then over time after much cogitation I reckoned that embracing the situation and creating my own acceptable version of reality would be the better option. Hues of Brown/Beige depicting long dusty roads I walked daily lined up with navy coloured kiosks selling the indigenous indigo-dyed fabric. Loose silhouettes of oversized burlap-esque linen shirts with exaggerated sleeves and distressed necklines exuding a sense of despair.”

Africa International Fashion Week is its second season. Backed by some of the biggest players in the fashion industry, this fashion week is set to bring footprints of global fashion heavy weights into new interactions in the fashion and retails cape in Africa. Designers, Photographers, Buyers and other practitioners have pitched in; stimulating interest from the market and companies that are interested in playing in Africa or reaching their audience on the continent.

Africa International Fashion Week partnered with Vogue Italia for the first ever “Vogue Talent for Africa”. The winner – Maxhosa by Laduma is a young South African who since winning this project has been seen at various events in the world, most recently at the Vogue Talent in Milan and Dubai respectively.

In 2016, they are partnering again with Vogue and we are looking forward to it with great expectations. The best thing about 2015 is that Delta State in conjunction with Desopadec (Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission) has come on board as the Title sponsor of this great event.

Also Desopadec has concluded arrangement to set up what is set to be Africa’s biggest factory in the heart of the Niger Delta. Desopadec is known to engage the youths positively and coming into the business of fashion will give more opportunities to the youths in that region.

The AGOA (African Growth Opportunity Act) that President Clinton started has not being utilized in Nigeria. However, President Obama has renewed the AGOA to 2025 and this is the opportunity of a lifetime and Nigeria especially Delta State has seized the opportunity to position herself as the front runner in the business of fashion. Already, works are in top gear to actualize this dream. Nimasa (Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency) also has come on board as a sponsor. These are agencies that see social corporate responsibilities as the way forward. Studio24 remains one of our greatest and constant partners.

media girl Toke Makinwa, business girl Freda Francis and the self-proclaimed billionaire wife and

    successful entrepreneur herself Dabota Lawson.

The 2015 collection from Wanni Fuga “LIGNE” was mind blowing, in the words of the creator; “I’m trying

to achieve modern elegance by pertaining to something from the past in a nostalgic way; vivid colours,

bold prints. I look around today and I see a lot of old school fashion being brought back. It’s amazing how

collection “FORTIS” was unveiled and it was to be the beginning of their widely acclaimed recognition

The brand came into the limelight in 2014 but has become a fan favorite amongst our favourite

celebrities. Some may attribute this success to his previous presence in the entertainment industry, but

we beg to differ, the P.O.C brand in its own rights deserves all its successes.

P.O.C as a brand has successfully showcased at the 2015 Aquafina Elite Model Look in Nigeria and most

recently at the Heineken Fashion and Design Week 2015. Papa Omisore 2015 collection is called
