Swimwear Label, Andrea Iyamah, has just released her Spring/Summer 2017 lookbook. She had previewed the collection earlier at a private presentation last year, and the lookbook photos are nothing short of stunning.

Sticking to her identifiable aesthetic, the collection features her signature print swimwear, vibrant colours, and bikini’s cut high-waisted with built in support for the bust.

View the lookbook photos below.

We just can’t stop liking it!

What do you think of this collection? Are you gonna have one soon?

    APiF: Please introduce your brand.
Mimmy Yeboah: I’m a self-taught New York City based designer. My brand is basically me, Mimmy Yeboah. I create exclusive minimal statement pieces for women, putting more of a focus on the female frame. All of my fabrics are chosen, cut and constructed to create confidence as you walk with your head high wearing a garment from Mimmy Yeboah.

APiF: What is your professional background?
Mimmy: I might not have a “real” professional background for fashion design, as I am self-taught. But I have taken classes at Parsons and FIT. Parsons is where I was taught fashion by force, as an elementary student. Parsons offered pre-College classes, where my brother and I took art and drawing classes. Once we were older, we went into the different classes like fashion design or animation.

I dreaded fashion at Parsons only because of my fear to explore my creative side without being judged, as the majority of the kids seemed to know what they were doing. As I got older fashion became embedded into me and one day I decided I wanted to sew my sketches and I just started. That is when I eventually decided to take two classes at FIT to improve on my basic skills. Because knowing the basics is important.

APiF: Your swimwear is very unique – what was the inspiration for the design?
Mimmy: I’m a June baby, so I love creating pieces for the summer. Swimwear is always interesting. The ideas and inspiration usually comes from music and wanting to be in the sun, sporting something different and cool.
APiF: What is your cultural heritage and how does it influence your designs?
Mimmy: I’m Ghanaian, and I make sure every one knows that in a not so subtle way. I want everyone to know Ghana. So my heritage definitely influences my designs. I feel like I create better when I’m in Ghana anyways.
APiF: What should we look for when buying swimwear – any recommendations?
Mimmy: Well when I’m looking for swimwear, I’m looking for what fits my boobs because I have G’s. So I want support! But I want it to be cute. But in general I believe looking for the right color for your complexion is important. You don’t want to look washed-out in the beautiful sun!
APiF: Any tips for emerging Designers?
Mimmy: Never give up! “Keep on keeping on” as a good friend of mine would say.

Sun of a beach; what to pack and wear when heading out for some sun, sand and sea as a man.

    Swimwear

Your choice of swimwear is by far the most important part of your trip to the beach. You’ll be in your trunks all day long, so they have to be comfortable and maintain a wide range of motion while still being stylish. They should also dry very quickly, allowing you to jump between the beach and the city with relative ease.

Modern trends dictate that your swimwear should end a few inches above the knee, baring a bit of thigh. If you aren’t comfortable with this, it’s fine to go down to the knee, but don’t let it dangle over — that restricts movement.

    Shirts

You never know when your day at the beach will turn into a stroll or a night on the town, so it’s a good idea to pack or wear something socially acceptable just in case you don’t spend the entirety of your time in the water. Plus, if you’re a little self-conscious, an extra layer on top can add a lot of confidence.

Tank tops are a great idea if stepping outside feels like opening an oven door, but they’re inappropriate for night wear and can be regionally awkward.

    Footwear

The easiest choice is flip-flops — they’re cheap, readily available, and very effective for their intended purpose. Since you’ll only be wearing them for a short period of time, they’ll likely be stashed away during the duration of the trip, so their low profile is perfectly suited for transportation. Furthermore, their rubber construction is easily cleaned, an important attribute for beach attire.

    Beach Towel

One thing most people don’t consider when buying a towel is its material composition. While most are 100% cotton, you will frequently run into synthetic blends, which might perform better or worse depending on its ratio. One of the single best materials to look for is linen; it retains even more water than cotton without feeling wet, breaks in nicely over the summer, is exceedingly durable, and allows air to flow through on hot summer days while still keeping you dry.

    A Tote

You’ll certainly be bringing a lot of stuff — sunscreen, towels, books, electronics, perhaps even a change of clothes! To be properly prepared, you need a dependable bag that can hold your belongings without feeling unweildy. Remember, sand gets everywhere at a beach, so ensure it can be easily

When it comes to flaunting your body, no matter the size, bikinis are just perfect!

The right bikini hugs your curves without gaps or wrinkles, and accentuates the good bits without drawing attention to the not-so-good.

As sweet as this may sound, finding that right bikini can be really tough.

London-based swimwear designer, Anna Laub, the founder of Prism, shares a few tips on finding a bikini that works for your body.

    Shop the top

“Triangle tops look best on a small bust; if yours is bigger, try something with straps and underwire. It’s counterintuitive, but padding is great for large breasts because it provides support. Halter tops work for everyone, as long as there’s enough coverage, check from all angles.”

    Aim high

“The higher the leg is cut, the longer your legs will look. And high-waisted bottoms can hide stomach pooch. Tie string-bikini bottoms before putting them on. The closer the front and back panels are, the better the fit.”

    Stick to solids

“They’re more flattering than prints, which can also look dated. I gravitate toward black, dark blue, and gray, but yellow or red can look wonderful against certain skin tones.”
