Nigerian Label Amede, has released its Spring/Summer collection called “Born Free”.

According to the creative director for the brand, Amede Nzeribe, the collection was inspired by her mother’s photo album from the 70’s bohemian and hippie era.

True to its inspiration, the collection taps into the vibrant but easy vibe of the seventies: flowy silhouettes, wide leg pants, and tie-dye, which is actually an Amede signature.

Lagos based luxury fashion brand, Endi Martin unveils its “Black Panther” editorial. The brand paints the picture of a sophisticated black woman who is a unique moving time mix, with a commanding presence that seems to make time stand still.

The campaign aptly draws inspiration from the fierceness, poignancy, courage, power and valour of black women of yesteryears.

According to designer, Martin Eguh,

“There’s a way I create feminine silhouettes. I like to see a woman exude so much confidence, elegance and grace”

The editorial features light weight cottons, chiffons and silks. The Black Panther is a first from the luxury line. Watch out for what is coming in the New Year!

Following the debut feature of Maison Mimi’s Travel Series, we bring you part two of the Travel Series: London. This street style themed edition features multicultural Lifestyle Blogger, Isabel Watson, whose blog The Britain Way was launched to share the diversity which is herself, a mixture of Somalian, Jamaican & British.

The blog which talks about lifestyle, fashion, travel, food & student life – gives the excitement of a fresh take on London.

The typical Italian girl who complains about not well-made coffee and the British girl fashionista who is always addicted to tea and always on the GO – are some of the reasons why she’s our Maison Mimi woman!

Meena is continuously breaking the mold with creative designs and it shows. In many cases designers are stuck between creating something new and awkward or maintaining the usual styles with print and fabric alternatives. However Meena pushes the barriers with real creative outfits that stand out and can be worn and admired.

There isn’t an overall theme to characterize the Ochiagha collection, however let’s say with some of the unique ideas stemming from each outfit, it is even possible to see a full collection make from each outfit.

Going by the brand’s press release, Maison Mimi’s next season girl is anything but boring. She’s “cosmopolitan, fun and modern. She’s a modern day Londoner; she lives in a basement/loft conversion in the West End. Working delivery for a start up magazine in Portman Square, catching the tube isn’t the best for her thigh high slit pants or structured ensembles but it is the most efficient”.

For such type of a girl, we imagine that while functionality is key for her while choosing what to buy, standing out and making a bold sartorial statement is what indeed gets her attention—a thing that Maison Mimi gets quite well with her voluminous, airy, light weight and larger than life pieces.
Save for a few finishing concerns, it is clear that Maison Mimi knows her next season girl and designed her Spring/Summer 2016 collection wholly having her in mind!

Splatters of extra glittery Swarovski embellishments lavishly adorned on lush liquid gold laces, and pearls, generously stitched to the bodice of the dresses, fragile gold discs intricately inserted in pristine white lace and more pearls and even more crystals utterly stitched to the solid blue piece pieces.

The collection—absolutely cohesive with a glamorous story tied neatly with laces in blue, white, gold and silver hues that most accurately convey the designer’s Spring/Summer 2016 vision of endless sophisticated social functions for her next season woman.

Chidinma Obairi might have been going for a “glamorous”, “classic” but with a“modern” spin sort of collection—which is good, as she has clearly done that, but what is even much more exciting about this collection, is that it could have as well been a resort or capsule collection from Zuhair Murad or even Elie Saab—this is how much of a great collection this is. And with the AMVCA’s andAMAA’s in sight, we can’t wait to see what A-list actresses get to snag the first dips on any of these pieces!
