Skip Washing Detergent Introduces A Campaign Ft 3 Designers, 3 Cities & 3 Collections To Celebrate South African Fashion
To celebrate South African fashion, Skip washing detergent has introduced a campaign featuring three designers, three cities and three collections, with the #MyFabulous hashtag.
Rich Mnisi of Johannesburg, Jenevieve Lyons of Cape Town and Sibu Msimang of Durban will each design a 10-piece range inspired by their respective cities and the women who live in them.
The ranges will be based on images posted by the public on Instagram using each city’s hashtag: #MyFabulousDBN, #MyFabulousJHB and #MyFabulousCTN.
Mnisi - who already has Johannesburg’s fashion ”It” girls, Thithi Ntheta and Crystal Kasper, combing the city for images to provide him with visual inspiration - said the colours and movement of the people in the city made up for a lack of natural beauty.
Lyons said she drew her inspiration from her beautiful surroundings, such as the Company’s Garden.
She was also inspired by the way people in Cape Town adapted to their surroundings without being overly influenced by mass culture - “just a sense of self: isolation, through travel and exploration”.
She said Cape Town’s expressivity, creativity and culture would make her city’s style different from Johannesburg and Durban.
Msimang is laid-back, like many Durbanites, who enjoy amazing weather and a rich mix of cultures
She said her collection would be inspired by Moses Mabhida Stadium, with the beach and Durban’s historic buildings in the background.
