Yesterday the Embassy organised a Swedish – Egyptian fashion exhibition on the theme ‘Innovative design and cultural heritage’. Taking place in the framework the Embassy successful collaboration with the MSA University in Cairo, the exhibition will showcase sketches and design work by Egyptian fashion students who attended last year a workshop conducted by Swedish fashion designer Hans Jansson and Swedish fashion professor Louise Wallenberg.

During the seven days’ workshop that took place last October, the students learned how to combine modern and innovative fashion with multi-cultural influences. The workshop resulted in a number of sketches by the students, where they used traditional techniques, like embroideries and weaving combined with on modern and creative designs. In addition, each student designed an embroidery pattern for a cotton scarf, which was executed by women in Siwa.

During the event, one student will be selected to go on a fashion trip to Sweden during the month of August, based on his/her exceptional contributions and design work. The Fashion exhibition and trip are taking place in the framework of the Embassy year dedicated to ‘innovation, education and entrepreneurship’.
