All Things Ankara! Jessica Chibueze and Jidenna feature in Nigerian Renaissance’s Campaign!!
While I would not liken this to the euphoria that comes with The MET Ball? It is very exciting that this season, Nigerians outside will partake in the country’s independence celebration by hosting the first ever All Things Ankara Ball.
The event has unveiled its fashion editorial-like campaign that features its brand ambassadors:igerian-American Model/International Philanthropist, Jessica Chibueze, and Nigerian-American Recording Artist and Producer, Chief Jidenna, both dressed in a themed way while still reflecting their roots.
With a theme set to reflect a marriage of culture between “the French Renaissance and Nigerian-African aesthetics”, the Ankara Ball is purposed to reflect, expose and educate the world about the rich fashion culture of Nigeria and how it has evolved through the years.
Billed to happen on Saturday, October 17th, 2015, from 9pm-2am, at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Grand Ballroom at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, and super packed with loads of activities. Guests would be expected to pitch their fashion forward tents in pieces that speak nothing but themed high-fashion all created from Ankara.
No doubt this is a stunning editorial, but I can’t but ask myself why reference the French when we were colonized by the British? Just thinking out loud. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Olisa.tv jJury, a Yay or a resounding Nay to All things Ankara’s editorial campaign?
